Onigiri Asakusa Yadorokuおにぎり浅草宿六

Founded in 1954, Yadoroku is the oldest onigiri shop in Tokyo. The third-generation owner preserves its traditions while pursuing the unique character of Yadoroku. Each year, he samples 20 to 30 varieties of rice and selects the best match based on their balance with the fillings, salt, and seaweed.Their onigiri-making technique is also distinctive: after gently gathering the rice, they shape it quickly with minimal movements, allowing the grains to maintain their texture. The seaweed is wrapped in a way that keeps one side lifted, creating a perfect balance of crispness and moisture. In addition to classics such as grilled salmon and pickled plum, they offer a wide range of fillings, including leaf chili pepper, ginger miso, and ami (small shrimp marinated in soy sauce), each prepared with great care.Yadoroku’s onigiri has been continually selected for the Bib Gourmand and is celebrated as one of Asakusa’s most iconic and exceptional onigiri.
