The symbol of Asakusa ”Kaminarimon”is the main gate of Senso-ji and its real name is ”Furaijinmon”. This means it has received its name from the words ”Fujin”(Wind God) and ”Raijin”(God of Thunder). These two gods have been worshipped for protection against fire and damage from storm and flood. In addition, it is said that prayers for peace and tranquility and huge harvest under regular seasons were also included. Behind these two gods the sculpture of Tenryu and Kinryu are enshrined. Both sculptures are dragon gods ruling water.
Let’s greet them before entering to the grounds.
