The Sumida Hokusai Museumすみだ北斎美術館

Katsushika Hokusai is a Japanese artist who was active during the Edo period and had a great impact on Western artists and is one of the best-known Japanese artists overseas. The ”Sumida Hokusai Museum” was established at his birthplace. You can sense Hokusai’s passion in the permanent exhibition which shows waxsculptures of Hokusai devoting himself to his work and his wife in a simple row house. You can learn more about Hokusai’s technique by touching the installed touch panels.
